About the artist
My sculpting work started with small metal farm animals based on my sheepdogs, Mick and Gus. From there I started experimenting with mixing wood and metal together, to create small scenes, usually with a cartoon type theme.
My work has now evolved somewhat towards much bigger sculptures and my themes are changing towards the coastal environment in which I now live. The evolution of my work is such that each time I create a new piece it opens up a whole new avenue of sculptures just waiting to be made.
Indoor and outdoor sculptures, commissions welcomed
I use very simple processes in creating my sculptures, relying on natural shapes and plenty of elbow grease to achieve end results. Some pieces I polish and beeswax to display inside and others I leave as rusty steel, to slowly weather outside in a garden setting.
Many of my pieces have come about through requests and I enjoy the challenge of this type of work.
